This painting is based on a photo I snapped in from the cliffs above Mori Point in Pacifica, CA. The water had created a really cool island of sand on the beach, and shadows were making all sorts of cool shapes. Plus, there was a person walking with a dog and frisbee--what could be better?
This is an original watercolor, 11x14 on wood panel, wall ready. I applied two coats of gesso for an isolation barrier with the wood, and then two coats of Daniel Smith's Watercolor Ground in a cold-pressed pattern. Protected with archival UV blocking painter's varnish, and matted in an archival mat. I painted using a limited palette including: Windsor blue, yellow ochre, alizarin crimson, paynes grey.
Here is the video of the painting: https://youtu.be/9fDqTo015Ao
The painting can be mounted in a floating frame, or can be hung directly on the wall as-is. I've dressed the sides up in grey for a neat appearance if hung directly on the wall, see photos.
